Today I wanted to take a moment and discuss my upcoming series and the associated websites.
The Waking Dream Series is going to consist of 9 novels, separated into three trilogies. The first trilogy is called The Transformation Trilogy and it is set in our modern day world. It is called the Transformation Trilogy because it is quasi-apocalyptic — which is to say that the world is not destroyed but it will be irrevocably changed. The entire series is based on the premise that the entire universe is a Waking Dream, which means that everything we see around us is the product of those who are able to mold and shape the dream — or Dreamers.
Dreamers are souls that inhabit bodies, known as Sleepers. They are stuck in a cycle of reincarnation, whereby they exist in a place called the Spaces Between — which is akin to the afterlife, but I like to refer to it as the InBetweenLife. The Spaces Between is where all of the experiences Dreamers have are stored and accessible to the Dreamer, but only while they are in the Spaces Between. When a Dreamer chooses a Sleeper to inhabit, they lose all knowledge of their previous life and assume the identity and memories of their Sleeper, until they undergo the Awakening. Once Awakened, the Dreamer remembers only that they have the ability to manipulate the Waking Dream through the power of the universe known as the Weird — and they formulate their own manner of manipulating the Dream known as Weirdness. In more simpler terms, it is the ultimate form of role-play, where they assume the life of their character and have no knowledge of who they were in previous lives. However, this is only the first step in the game and Waking Dream. The next step is attaining Immortality.
Immortals are Dreamers who have effectively attained enlightenment. Once a Dreamer becomes Immortal, they can access all of the memories of their previous lives and their Weirdness increases exponentially, allowing them do manipulate the Waking Dream more dramatically. Immortals can jump from Sleeper to Sleeper at will and they have assumed the persona of many famous and infamous people throughout history.
A transformation is a point in history where a dramatic event causes life to change for all living beings on the planet. There are minor transformations, such as the industrial revolution, or the Renaissance. There are Great Transformations such as the Age of Reason, or the Age of Enlightenment. And there are Grand Transformations, where all civilizations on the planet are reset or wiped from the face of the planet. The Transformation Series is about a Great Transformation which will change the face of our planet, and leave it nearly unrecognizable to the Dreamers that survive.
In order to make the books more of an immersed and interactive experience, I have set up a site called The Way of the Weird which has information about the Waking Dream universe and series, written from the perspective of one of the characters. I have re-blogged many of the important pieces here, such as The Weirdness Experiment. These postings are a culmination of all the studies in theology, philosophy and physics that I have done over the course of my life. I feel that the Waking Dream is more than a work of fiction, but a way for us to shed our petty differences, embrace one another as siblings, and create a better future for us all.
In the end, we are all One, and we have simply forgotten this to be true. I say this because the universe is a closed, contained system. We are the agents of entropy and creating the universe one memory, one action and one connection at a time.
My final word on this, is not my own, but more aptly put by the Great Bard —
If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumber’d here
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
Gentles, do not reprehend:
if you pardon, we will mend:
And, as I am an honest Puck,
If we have unearned luck
Now to ‘scape the serpent’s tongue,
We will make amends ere long;
Else the Puck a liar call;
So, good night unto you all.
Give me your hands, if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends.
